World Media and Culture Center Title

About and Hours of Crane Café

Thanks to the generous support of Spanish alumna Loann Crane, the greetings that will welcome you to the Crane Café might be expressed in French. Or in Spanish or Italian. Or in German, Turkish, or Chinese...or in any of the 30 languages taught at The Ohio State University--or perhaps others still!

That's because the Café is a hub of international happenings on campus. Faculty can stop by to watch the news and have a cup of coffee with colleagues and students. Students can stop by to try out their language skills by watching broadcasts in the languages that they are studying, and participate in conversation groups in the Crane Café, and they can also come to the Café to watch a program that was assigned for class. Members of the community can also come to view news and other satellite TV programs from countries around the world shown on large screens throughout the Café.

The Crane Café is an essential part of the mission of the World Media and Culture Center: the development of advanced language skills through the understanding of the media of other cultures.
